Plaza athénée restaurant
The Relais Plaza restaurant is a Parisian institution that opened its doors in 1936. Now, more than 85 years later, Chef Jean Imbert has left his mark on this iconic bistro. The chef oversees the culinary direction of the Plaza Athenee Hotel and its restaurants. We stopped for lunch at the Art Deco establishment to sample Imbert’s new menu, which respects the Relais’ heritage and draws inspiration from his grandmother and traditional cuisine
– all of which is excellent. Of course, there’s plenty of innovation.
Plaza restaurants
Open daily for lunch and dinner, Le Relais has been a great success since it reopened in September 2021. In short: reservations are essential if you want to taste this refined cuisine made with seasonal and local products with a sense of aesthetics that Chef Imbert had already proven during theTV show Top Chef
.

To coincide with
the
, the Art Deco interior of this classic Parisian bistro was completed by the design duo Bruno Moinard and Claire Betaille. Upon entering, you’ll immediately see Diane Chasseresse’s original frescoes, illuminated by fans of palms, ferns and other plants, which complement the fan-shaped carpet under your feet. Once seated, discover the unique and imaginative Imbert Relais dinnerware under your blanket – sure to be a topic of discussion, designed exclusively for Delft restaurants.
The Mets plaza
In any case, you should know that Jean Imbert hits the nail on the head with his dishes full of emotion and nostalgia for the new 60’s, his exquisite sauces, his spicy and easily acidic preparations are very light. On the wine side, we will be served a great Veuve Clicquot, like René Bouvier’s Gevrey Chambertin Justice 2018. A monument of freshness and fruit, with its beautiful structure, served by the glass, by the learned Stéphane Gu
érin. Jean Imbert’s arrival at the Plaza Athénée sounds like a triumph.
Le Relais Imbert: Menu
A short, safe menu is a good start. We recommend ordering a foie gras and jelly sauce, followed by a variety of appetizers including fresh scallops with walnuts and cider sabayon and delicious goat cheese toast. Vegetarians will prefer to opt for the sucrine The ingredients are handpicked by Chef Imbert himself, who works with trusted French producers, including Jacky Mercier’s Ferme du Perches lettuce. Marvelous delights

But already the main course arrives. The food becomes particularly tasty. The 1962 Signature Bream Gratin, a tribute to Imbert’s grandmother, is a popular choice, served with stuffed tomatoes and rice pilaf. The sole meunière is another classic. For something light and fresh, the steamed yellow cod with artichokes and clementines is perfect, while at the other end of the scale, there’s the dizzying filet of beef/foie gras and dauphinois in brioche pastry to conquer (or conquer).
Eating at Relais Imbert
If eating at Relais becomes a regular event (and everyone agrees that it should), this week’s menu is sure to please. Because yes, the menu changes frequently
. Brioche sausages are served on Thursdays, while Friday’s special features Mont-Saint-Michel mussels with fried potatoes. Plan your reservation accordingly.
Plaza resto
For dessert, choose from the classic dishes and opt for this ice cream designed for sharing. Meanwhile, chocolate lovers will announce the “big winner” and “sweetest” with a luxurious chocolate soufflé with vanilla ice cream. Enough to satisfy the most gourmand… A table that the gourmet traveler will put on his list of things to visit.
Who to go with at the Resto brasserie?
Your partner, your mother, your business partners… nobody will be impressed by Le Relais.

Le relais plaza review
Le Relais Plaza offers a pleasant moment of sweetness and flavor. If some people already criticize the choice of the young chef at the head of this big name kitchen, there is nothing to say on the other hand about what you will have on your plate. The dishes that will be served to you combine an aesthetic, a certain taste. Certainly the Relais Plaza offers itself a second youth with a talented chef. In any case, the arrival of Jean Imbert at the Plaza Athénée sounds like a triumphant acclamation. The place is open every day, smiling at everyone, at the great and the good, at the casual person sitting on the beige leather benches facing the woodwork. Superb decoration in this liner of the 30s, restored with gold leaf.
