Two reasons to come and have lunch at the Magellan, a restaurant with a sea view located in Théoule, near Cannes. This fish restaurant offers refined and creative cuisine without any pretension. This French restaurant gives back the letters of nobility to the French cuisine

Want to escape and sun these next days?
Head for the Côte d’Azur for a radiant autumn season that is already delighting all tourism professionals. If you are passing through Cannes, don’t hesitate to continue your journey towards Saint-Raphaël. Take the Corniche d’Or and the road to the Esterel creeks, one of our favourite places on the French Riviera. The Massif de l’Estérel is a must, with its red volcanic rocks and steep cliffs.
Postcard-perfect coves and a 32-hectare massif, more than half of which is classified as “Natura 2000”, only ten kilometres from Cannes. This is where the restaurant Le Magellan has set up shop, with its breathtaking view. Enough to delight all the taste buds in a warm atmosphere. Just walk along the beach where you will see these perfectly aligned deckchairs to understand that you are in one of those places where the requirement of the result and the emulation are exercised daily.
A restaurant on the beach
The Magellan restaurant, at the foot of the Théoule-sur-Mer castle, has been in existence for over 40 years. The location alone is worth the detour, with a view of the Grande Bleue and the bay of Cannes, with the Estérel massif in the background with its fine sandy beach and turquoise waters. Laurent Combacal, the restaurant manager, welcomed us a few days ago on the terrace, facing his private beach. A la carte: A wide choice of seafood specialities and local products, fresh products in the plates of course. We find flavors worked in the menu of the restaurant. An excellent restaurant where the home-made invites itself in the plates with an inventive kitchen
Food and wine make this quality restaurant with a warm atmosphere, a recognized address for gourmets. You will be able to savour gourmet dishes
in this cosy restaurant. Wine and food pairings will be served on the large terrace, with your feet in the sand in this fish restaurant. Here, we appreciate the originality of the culinary flavours, we refine our dishes in this restaurant
and the tables are covered and laid. But if you want to have a bite to eat while enjoying your deckchair, you should know that it is possible.
A gastronomic career
The owner arrived 6 years ago from Aix-en-Provence, after having worked for great Parisian restaurants
such as the Fouquets and the Etoile, in Paris. He now manages a team of 42 people during the season in this modern restaurant with a friendly atmosphere, including the new head chef Bruno Tenailleau. He has also worked for renowned establishments in the South of France, such as the Hôtel de Paris in Saint-Tropez.
This passionate cook has worked in some of the finest establishments in France, while perfecting his skills during training courses with Régis Marcon and Alain Ducasse in his training centre in Argenteuil. Of course, you are on the Mediterranean coast, and his cuisine reflects this. From fresh products and seasonal products including the catch of the day of a total freshness. You will also find a large choice of shellfish but it would be unreasonable not to taste these platters of fresh oysters, flavoured with lemon, raspberry and muscatel.
The Magellan is renowned for its fish specialities. Our choice was therefore a gourmet turbot, rather than a sea bream, also on the menu that day. A choice that kept all its promises. In this friendly restaurant, you will be served gastronomic cuisine. A friendly restaurant
based on seasonal products that offers a range of flavours with the daily menu. It is one of the best fish restaurants in the region. With its large dining room open to the terrace and the beach, you can enjoy this quiet place of total serenity. A meal at the gastronomic restaurant Le Magellan
Gourmets will appreciate the lobster and the catch of the day. Without forgetting the work of local producers to highlight the French cuisine. In the end, you will have refined dishes of the day, seasonal products, home-made, which will be offered to the greatest number of people. Local products with tasty seafood will be served in this gastro restaurant.
nomic. The setting is cosy, the dish of the day tasty. The guests will appreciate this well-known address. You will be able to savour home-made dishes.
Impossible to imagine this good restaurant as one of those places with a growing reputation based solely on a single know-how. You will be able to savour soft and delicious desserts, of an impressive finesse. Bruno Tenailleau is an expert pastry chef
and a competition beast, having won the 1st prize in the International Dessert Championship in 2007. Let yourself be tempted by his dark chocolate Caribbean and basil zebra. And you will understand better what delicious means! The beauty and purity of the plates suggest a slippery slope to deliciousness. Gourmands will be seduced by these well-balanced tastes, because it’s all in the dosage. You can share a glass of wine while savouring a fine piece of fish. Opt for the Château de Crémat Bellet, straight from the hills of Nice, which you will find on the wine list. An appetizing dessert Another dessert
A true globetrotter of taste and restaurateur, Laurent Combacal has just been sponsored by another chef in the region to be one of Escoffier’s disciples. A sponsorship that shows his willingness to pass on all his know-how to young people… And sometimes not so young, but just as passionate about this profession.
A sumptuous setting
And if you ever need to take a little digestive break, there is no doubt that the private beach, one of the most beautiful on the Côte d’Azur, will give you the pleasure of idleness. Enjoy the place with its incredible panorama on the Esterel. If ever you want to walk a little, you can enjoy the cornice. The place is of an absolute calm, history to appreciate its time spent at the terrace of this restaurant.

What to pack for Cannes?
I’m Michelle, and I love to travel. As a former hotel expert for one of the world’s largest hotel chains, I’ve stayed in nearly every type of room imaginable (including many that were not so desirable!). Nowadays, I am fortunate enough to be able to explore the world on my own terms. From international flights to learning different languages, there is nothing too far out of reach!
