The citizenM brand has just given more details about its plan to open new hotels in 2022. The six hotels that will be added to its portfolio of 24 hotels in 16 major cities around the world next year have all been announced.
While the pioneer of low-cost lifestyle hotels has just unveiled a new property in San Francisco, almost all of the openings will take place across the Atlantic, where citizenM seems to be catching on quickly despite its comfortable rooms, albeit of a much smaller size than in the US.
To begin with, in the first quarter, two hotels will open in Miami, one in the trendy Brickell district and the other in the Worldcenter. Covered with a monumental work of art by Miami artist Jen Stark, the citizenM Miami Brickell façade will contain 252 rooms, as well as eight societyM meeting rooms, topped off by a first for the brand, with a rooftop pool and bar.
Also in Miami and still in the first part of the year, citizenM will offer a hotel even more focused on business travel since it is located in the heart of the business district. As part of the Worldcenter urban project, mixing offices, shops and hotels, the citizneM will offer 351 rooms, but also four societyM rooms. And here again, the Florida sunshine will allow to propose a swimming pool and a bar on the roof. As for the arty dimension of the place, it will be declined with a facade decorated with a series of sculptures signed FriendsWithYou and by a collaboration with the artists Samuel Borkson and Arturo Sandoval III.
The first quarter of next year will also see the opening of a second hotel in Seattle. Joining the South Lake Union hotel, the citizenM Seattle Pioneer Square will help breathe new life into one of the city’s historic neighborhoods. Housed in what was originally Seattle’s first sawmill, the hotel will offer 232 rooms to travelers
In the second quarter, citizenM will return to Washington, D.C. to open a second location
. The location chosen for this is also a district in full regeneration, that of NoMa, short for North of Massachusetts Avenue. Close to many offices, but also to the bustling downtown area, the citizenM will offer 292 rooms and three societyM rooms for business travelers.
Later this year, in the fourth quarter,
the company will add a new business destination to its roster with Chicago. Located in Downtown, between the Riverwalk and Millennium Park, the hotel will be housed in a 47-story tower and will offer 280 rooms as well as three societyM rooms announced as open 24/7.
CitizenM targets 40 hotels worldwide
As part of its expansion, citizenM is not forgetting Europe, as a fourth hotel is being prepared in London. Expected to open in the second quarter of next year near Victoria Station, the 226-room hotel will offer business travellers an accommodation solution in West London.
In addition to this busy schedule, the Dutch brand, which intends to pass the 40-hotel mark worldwide in the near future, already has seven openings scheduled for 2023. In Europe, citizenM will add a fifth location in Paris and London and will also make its debut in Rome, on Tiberina Island. At the same time, the brand will continue its American adventure with a second hotel in Boston and a third hotel, but also the arrival of the brand in Austin. The latest emblematic project for the brand is its installation in Menlo Park, within the Facebook campus.
I’m Michelle, and I love to travel. As a former hotel expert for one of the world’s largest hotel chains, I’ve stayed in nearly every type of room imaginable (including many that were not so desirable!). Nowadays, I am fortunate enough to be able to explore the world on my own terms. From international flights to learning different languages, there is nothing too far out of reach!
