Business travellers who want to keep their minds young will find a new base in Vienna with the new Jo&Joe. Accor has just opened the fourth establishment of its brand, which revisits youth hostels as “open houses”. In other words, a contemporary living space offering, of course, dormitories, but also private rooms adapted to business trips and a quality hotel offer, all complemented by particularly lively common areas. ” Jo&Joe is neither a classic hotel nor a youth hostel. It’s a unique and new chapter in hospitality,” explains François Leclerc, Vice President of Operations for Jo&Joe.
Adjacent to the Westbahnhof, the rail hub that connects the Austrian capital to Salzburg and Sankt Pölten, Jo&Jo is part of a building developed by Ikea, with the first floors housing the Swedish brand’s new flagship store in Vienna, in addition to four other outdoor stores at street level. Called “Hus”, this Greenpass Platinum-certified multifunctional venue has a sustainable dimension with, for example, 160 trees integrated into its façade as well as solar panels on the roof.
Located on the 5th and 6th floors of the building, Jo&Joe Vienna takes advantage of this location to offer one of the largest rooftops in the city, covering no less than 1,800 m2. In addition to its 360-degree view of the Austrian capital, travelers and locals alike will find plenty of dining options. And, if the weather is not cooperating, the establishment adds a restaurant on the fifth floor where salads, burgers and pizzas can be enjoyed, complemented by a dance floor, a large cinema room and even a “Beer Wall” where travellers can chat while drawing their own beer.
Four street artists – Lady K, Reso, Dinho Bento and Skirl – participated in the decoration of the public spaces and the rooms. In addition to the 44 shared dormitories called “Togethers”, Jo&Joe offers 33 “Yours” rooms adapted to business travellers and all equipped with a private bathroom.
After Hossegor in 2017, Gentilly in the Paris suburbs in 2019 and Rue de Buzenval in Paris intra muros earlier this year, Jo&Joe will continue its international expansion as openings are planned in Venice, Rio and Medellin in the next six months, before Rome and Moscow next year.
I’m Michelle, and I love to travel. As a former hotel expert for one of the world’s largest hotel chains, I’ve stayed in nearly every type of room imaginable (including many that were not so desirable!). Nowadays, I am fortunate enough to be able to explore the world on my own terms. From international flights to learning different languages, there is nothing too far out of reach!
