IHG’s loyalty program is changing its name to IHG One Rewards, not just IHG Rewards. The addition of “One” is a reminder that the British group was among the first to tackle customer loyalty within the hotel industry. But the new name also reflects IHG’s desire to offer its members more reward opportunities, focusing more on tangible and practical benefits for travelers than Marriott’s Bonvoy and Accor’s more experience-oriented All programs.

This evolution had been in the works since late January. At that time, the U.K. group announced a new tiered and bonus points structure, allowing members to earn more points – and faster – resulting in accelerated rewards. At the same time, IHG also introduced a fifth level of recognition, Gold Elite, between Silver Elite and Platinum Elite, with Diamond Elite still reserved for the most loyal customers. Keith Barr, CEO of IHG Hotels & Resorts, warned that ” these changes are just the beginning: we are preparing to relaunch a truly transformed program later this year.

This is now a reality, as IHG One Rewards went into effect on April 13, retroactive to stays made on or after Jan. 1, 2022, by guests who were already members of the old loyalty program. In addition to a new point accumulation system, IHG One Rewards is working to bring more benefits to travelers, with new features such as complimentary breakfast for Diamond Elite members or exclusive access to Reward Nights promotions for Platinum Elite and Diamond Elite members. Meanwhile, Platinum and Diamond Elite members continue to enjoy room upgrades, early check-in and late check-out, subject to availability. A late check out until 2:00 p.m. which members of the lowest status, Club, can now also enjoy.

The new program is also unique in its tiered and à la carte rewards system. With the launch of the new Milestone Rewards technology platform, IHG One Rewards members who book 20 to 100 nights at IHG will have a choice of bonus points or vouchers to be used on the dining offer, starting this June. Reaching the 20-, 40- and 70-night mark will entitle guests to a choice of suite upgrades or an annual IHG private lounge membership.

With IHG One Rewards, our members can create the rewards that work for them,” said Claire Bennett, director of guest experience for the British group, who also says the launch of the new program is ” one ofs most significant investments IHG Hotels & Resorts has made in recent years. ” As part of this investment, the hotelier’s loyal guests will see a new IHG One Rewards mobile app in the coming weeks that will orchestrate the whole experience while simplifying booking and registration for program members.
