“Relax. As he showed me the Excellence Collection app, he said that he wanted you to feel at home. It is a central hub for information about all resorts, including maps, restaurant menus, and entertainment schedules.
This was just one of many occasions where Excellence Punta Cana’s ethos became evident. My stay was a feeling of belonging, with everything about it creating a sense that I had a home away.
Hotel Amenities and Guestrooms
Though Excellence Punta Cana comprises 461 guestrooms across 18 categories, this fairly large adults-only oasis manages to still feel intimate in all the right places. There are four pools, a shopping street, tennis courts, and a botanical garden. Guests can easily spread out to find their own place to relax and have fun.

This held true for the dining options, as well, with nine a la carte restaurants, one buffet and one beach snack bar at guests’ disposal. I also had access to 12 bars — where the drinks were always flowing. Each meal was a new experience for me. I had the opportunity to try something different at each restaurant, which allowed me to take my taste buds on an international adventure. Excellence Punta Cana’s food was delicious. Aroma Cafe, which serves homemade gelato and delectable desserts, satisfied my sweet tooth.

Back in my guestroom, I also found everything I needed to make me feel right at home. Staying in one of the 183 Excellence Club accommodations meant I had upgraded amenities including Bvlgari toiletries and upscale liquors as part of the all-inclusive offerings. The Excellence Club guestrooms are situated towards the front of the property so it was easy to get to the beach, restaurants, or one of two exclusive pools for Club members. Additional amenities include a private restaurant, a beach area, and one Aqua Wellness treatment at Spa.
Excellence Punta Cana is an adult-only property. It’s great for couples, friends, and families with children. Swim-up suites are ideal for clients who want to be near the action. The variety of Excellence Club suites with private pools and terraces make for a romantic getaway.

And whether clients are by the pool or in their room, they’ll find themselves in an atmosphere that draws on traditional Caribbean vibes and architecture with just the right amount of modern touches.
Staff Who Feel Like Family
What truly allowed me to sit back and feel at home — beyond the resort facilities and accommodations — was the incredibly attentive staff. You can relax more when you know that everything is being taken care of. Excellence Punta Cana staff go above and beyond to make sure every detail is handled.
Case in point: A few nights before my departure, I was stopped on my way to the pool and asked if I had taken my on-site COVID-19 test in preparation for my return to the U.S. It was shocking to me that someone I had never interacted with before knew about my departure.

“You’re family. He said, “It’s my job know” in surprise.
This wasn’t the first occasion I heard staff refer to their guests as family. I heard many stories about loyal guests returning to Excellence Punta Cana each year, sometimes multiple times per year. This is partly due to the strong relationship they have with staff. Guests are often repeat visitors and act as brand ambassadors and guides for new guests. This contributes to the feeling of belonging and community that I experienced throughout my stay.

COVID-19 Precautions and Protocols
For clients who are concerned about COVID-19, the safety they feel within their homes is extended to the property. Excellence Punta Cana staff are all fully vaccinated. They still wear transparent face covers so that you can see their smiles.
On my day of departure, I was greeted with a warm farewell.
” When are you coming back?” A few crew members asked me when I would be returning.
“Hopefully soon,” I responded.
