Costa Toscana, the new ship of Costa Cruises was presented to the press. The opportunity to discover a little better the place for your future vacations.

Innovative and sustainable

The Costa Toscana has been designed to be a true “smart city” on the move, where sustainable solutions and circular economy projects are implemented to reduce environmental impact. Through the use of liquefied natural gas (LNG), the most advanced emission reduction technology currently available in the maritime sector, it will be possible to almost completely eliminate emissions of sulfur oxides (zero emissions) and particulate matter (95-100% reduction) into the atmosphere, while significantly reducing emissions of nitrogen oxides (85% direct reduction) and CO2 (up to 20%). All of the ship’s daily supply will be provided by processing seawater through desalinizers. Energy consumption will be minimized through an intelligent energy efficiency system. In addition, 100% selective waste collection and recycling of materials such as plastic, paper, glass and aluminum will be carried out on board, part of an integrated approach to implement circular economy projects.

Tribute to Tuscany

The new boat is a tribute to Tuscany, the result of an extraordinary creative project, led by Adam D. Tihany, to promote and offer the best in one place. This wonderful Italian region gives its name to the ship, its deck and its main public areas. From Montalcino to Pietrasanta via Viareggio, Montecatini, Lucca, Pienza, Borgheri, Montepulciano, the Costa Toscana offers a true Tuscan tour with many areas dedicated to entertainment, taste and conviviality. To achieve this goal, Tihany thanks to the collaboration of several internationally renowned construction companies-Dordoni Architetti, Jeffrey Beers International, Partner Ship Design and Rockwell Group-who are in charge of designing different parts of the ship.

Made in Italy” interior

To create a true “Made in Italy” design experience, the furniture, lighting, fabrics and accessories on the Costa Toscana have been selected in collaboration with numerous Italian companies. Renowned Italian companies such as Molteni&C (sofas and chairs), Roda (outdoor and indoor furniture), Flos (decorative lighting), Dedar and Rubelli (fabrics, upholstery, chairs, sofas) have been selected. These brands are part of a team of 15 suppliers. Notable Italian companies such as Kartell, Poltrona Frau and Alessi, among others, are also part of the selection.

A ship to savor

Costa Toscana has some truly incredible food offerings, with no less than 21 <a href=”https://www” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>restaurants and spaces dedicated to gastronomy. Also on this new ship, guests will be able to enjoy dishes created by Bruno Barbieri, Hélène Darroze

The Archipelago restaurant will provide a truly unique culinary experience with three menus to choose from, one for each chef. The menus consist of 5 exquisite dishes designed to explore through food the part of the sea that guests are sailing. The concept and design of the restaurant is equally innovative. Archipelago features “island” tables for a more intimate experience, framed by a bronze sculpture embedded in unique driftwood, with installations made of reclaimed wood from the shore.

21 restaurants

with a special focus on sustainability. The chef’s menu, like the destination dishes, has been designed with carefully crafted ingredients – mostly from local produce – and their preparation methods, to avoid food waste. But not only that. The driftwood furniture in the restaurant was reclaimed thanks to “Guardians of the Coast,” an environmental education program to protect the ocean and Italian coastline run by the Costa Cruises Foundation.
