, in a new skyscraper overlooking the reinvented Bishopsgate Square, London City has just welcomed a Canopy by Hilton hotel, marking the brand’s debut in the UK. Again, this is a contemporary urban project, called Minories, which integrates the conversion of an office building into a hotel, a high-end residential building, and mid-rise offices, all set in a landscaped environment. A new place in the spirit of the times, as shown by the sustainable dimension of the establishment, rewarded by a BREEAM Very Good rating. Canopy by Hilton London City.
Beds made of recycled steel and wood from sustainable forests and short circuits for food and beverages, solar panels, an intelligent building management system, a green roof for an idea of the canopy in line with the name of this high-end lifestyle brand: the hotel cultivates a spirit that is both ecological and reflects the energy of the East End. The interior design is inspired by the history of the area, which has been closely linked to the textile industry since Huguenot weavers settled in Spitalfields in the 17th century, but also by the contemporary art scene in Whitechapel, with works created by local artists adorning the hotel’s public spaces.
Located near Aldgate station, and not far from the Tower of London, the hotel offers 340 rooms and several trendy bars and restaurants. A rooftop bar-restaurant, Florattica, with a view of St. Paul’s Cathedral, will open early next year.

Located on Upper Thames Street, close to the River Thames, the Westin London City will offer 222 rooms and suites, a restaurant, Mosaic, a wine bar with city views and tapas-style dining, Hithe + Seek, as well as a champagne bar in partnership with Taittinger. With the brand’s focus on fitness and wellness, travelers will also find a Westin Workout studio as well as a spa with pool and thermal treatments. On the MICE side, the hotel has seven meeting rooms, including a Westin Ballroom, covering 1,052 sqm with a total capacity of 400 people.
