The digital strategy of the Palais des Festivals and Congresses of Cannes takes a new turn in this autumn 2021. After having officially joined the international network Hybrid City Alliance, the famous conference center is equipped with an infrastructure embodying these new ambitions. The Hi5 studio was presented on September 3, offering a new asset to local managers for hosting hybrid or even entirely digital events, in partnership with the specialist Laval Virtual.

This permanent, turnkey studio has been installed on the 5th floor of the building – hence the name Hi5 – in place of the Esterel room, and has a capacity of 350 people. It is equipped with a 120 m² stage, four cameras, and a 10 x 3 m LED screen with a 2.5 pixel/mm curvature, in 4K definition. In addition to the local technical teams, in charge of sound and light, the Palais des Festivals has turned to Novelty for the visual production and Via Pass for the broadcasting, including live. As for streaming, the site’s managers offer two options to event organizers: use its own streaming platform, or adopt the OXP tool from PublicisLive and Orange.

Studio Hi5

We are proud of this new realization, a space with the most advanced technologies which will allow us to accompany our customers towards the success of their events, and to multiply the audience of the events “, congratulates the President of the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès de Cannes, Jean-Michel Arnaud. David Lisnard, Mayor of Cannes, notes for his part : ” The years 2020 and 2021 have been marked by the world health crisis which has deeply and durably transformed the events sector. Cannes, an excellent business destination, has recognised expertise in hosting professional events and has mobilised to launch new initiatives. Hybrid events have become a component of the return of trade shows and congresses with a physical presence. Today with the HI 5 studio, the Palais des Festivals and Congresses has a very efficient tool to accompany its customers in the renewal of the formats of their international events “.

A new medical concierge for the congressmen

In margin of the inauguration of the Hi5 studio, the persons in charge of the Palais des Festivals and Congresses of Cannes have also presented another innovation, intended to reassure the organizers of events in front of the health context. In addition to the various certifications, in particular GBAC for the North American market, the Cannes managers have decided to launch a medical concierge service. This new and free service, launched thanks to the French platform Concilio, relies on a network of 25,000 doctors. Congress attendees who come to the Palais des Festivals can register on the digital platform, allowing them to be contacted by a doctor through a teleconsultation, and to issue a prescription if necessary. ” All the major organisers are interested and will be developing this service in the coming weeks“, explains Régis Faure, director of tourism and the convention bureau.
