Reserving meeting rooms and rooms online in real time: all this will soon be possible on the meetings.accor.com website. The French group will indeed deploy in the coming months the GroupSync cloud solution, developed by Groups360 and designed for group reservations.
By the end of the year, the hotel group will first offer a digital quotation process on its MICE site. Then, in early 2022, the actual implementation of the solution for real-time booking of meeting spaces, called GroupSync Engage, will follow. In the following months, the offer will be extended to include room reservations for groups. So, in a single online transaction, GroupSync Engage offers organizers ” the ability to book not only meeting space, but also blocks of rooms, catering services, and state-of-the-art audio and video tools
,” as Kemp Gallineau, Groups360’s CEO, describes it.
With this launch, Accor is reaping the benefits of its investment in technology player Groups360. A little backtracking: in the summer of 2019, four global hotel heavyweights – Accor, Hilton, IHG and Marriott – had jointly invested $50 million in Groups360. A joint initiative aimed at solving the previously intractable problem of organizing meetings and seminars online and in real time.
Last March, IHG was the first of the four groups to announce the implementation of the GroupSync Engage solution in some 30 hotels in the United States, before Hilton announced a global rollout in June, with Accor now joining the circle of its users. ” We are very pleased to partner with Groups360 in the launch of this technology that will revolutionize the meetings and seminars industry
,” said Markus Keller, director of sales and distribution for the French group.
The MICE offer of the majority of its 5,200 establishments will be accessible through this solution. The same number of hotels will also be present on the GroupSync marketplace, which includes 200,000 establishments and simplifies the bidding process for organisers. Of these hotels, approximately 20,000 are preparing to adopt the GroupSync Engage solution by the end of 2021 to support online group booking.
I’m Michelle, and I love to travel. As a former hotel expert for one of the world’s largest hotel chains, I’ve stayed in nearly every type of room imaginable (including many that were not so desirable!). Nowadays, I am fortunate enough to be able to explore the world on my own terms. From international flights to learning different languages, there is nothing too far out of reach!
